SURVIVING THE OUTDOORS

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

— Oscar Wilde.

Here I am in the middle of nowhere , in the land of nowhere and virtually in this space that is as immense as is the universe .

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.

At the beginning of this idea I didn’t know exactly how I want to express myself , still I have no idea , so I am going to start writing even if my orthography does not help, i will keep going , similar to the man with one leg that cross the finish line , not technique maybe but amazing heart to transmit his whole energy.

I will start by telling you that the outdoors has been forever one of my passions , being out there makes me feel free and relaxed,A place where you find the beautiful value of silence, it makes me feel aware of myself as a human as part of a whole and even though it makes me feel like I am a tiny little thing in the universe , it also makes me realize that we are all connected and therefore there is no little things that do not play part on the big things , we as small as we are , we play the most important role in keeping this beautiful blue dot on the universe rolling healthy and beautiful.

ALWAYS A NEW PLACE TO EXPLORE

Visiting the Olympic peninsula was a beautiful thing to do, a wonderful experience, it was in summer, backpacking with my son and really enjoying his company, we got there around 2 pm or so and walk along the beach to find a spot to camp, we spend the evening telling stories and jokes, did small camp fire, which was allowed on the area where we camped, enjoying the smell of the roasted marshmallow, after a beautiful sunset. During the night the relaxing sound of the waves makes us fall sleep, waking up at the sing of the seagulls, we got ready for breakfast a short walk to the whole on the wall and then getting ready to go back home wish we could spent more time on this beautiful place

In order to have a good experience on the outdoors you need to be ready to face hardship and be prepared to solve problems that may arise on the trail, for this I give a list of items that may help you face those vicissitudes.

this is my survival list

  • fire kit :which include a lighter, a ferro rod , cotton balls with Vaseline, you can get a fire kit from amazon with many items already in it.
  • knife I have the mora knife an amazing sturdy knife for everything you need in the woods
  • communication : most of the times you will not have phone signal but you need to stay in touch in case an emergency Garmin inreach is the solution it is a satellite communicator to anywhere in the world

All those items I prefer to have them close to me rather than in my backpack, you never know when you can lose your pack or if you have to make a run , anything can happen and you need to be ready , I know this sounds dramatic but is better to always be ready.
